Band 9 Sample Answer - Many People choose to Work or live Abroad because of the Higher Standards of Living
In this contemporary world, many people are attracted to living in a country that can offer them excellent opportunities and standards of living that are desired. Although this also emphasizes that it also drains talented people who emigrate from the country, I feel that choosing to live in a different country brings more advantages than disadvantages. This will be discussed further in this essay.
To begin with, people coming from impoverished countries who do not have quality healthcare systems may have a safe and sound environment in developed countries. Further, they can be supported by solid infrastructure to have a better livelihood. Thus, as this example shows, extended life expectancy is a significant advantage that many people enjoy if they live in places offering higher living standards. Additionally, world-class education is yet another asset for the people who gets a plausibility to find employment in the overseas market since their honorarium is higher in countries outside their home country, which will consequently improve their economic condition. Studying in foreign countries also exposes them to diverse cultures, which helps develop their communications skills and improves their interpersonal skills.
Nevertheless, people choosing to work or live abroad find higher living standards very stressful too, as settling in a different country cannot be everyone’s cup of tea. They could be susceptible to homesickness and nostalgia, which can discourage their desire for integration, increasing the likelihood of isolation from the locals outside. And on top of that, these people do not contribute to their country’s economy, which subsequently slows down the development of their home country.
In the end, I pen down to say that there is no harm in choosing to uproot and plant existence from developing countries to developed countries. Everyone has a right to live a healthy life with a financially secured and blissful life.
Band 8 Sample Answer - Many People choose to Work or live Abroad because of the Higher Standards of Living
Most people choose to live or work abroad in order to enjoy a higher standard of living than what is already present in their home country. This decision is very much influenced by factors such as better job offers, higher income, and improved public services. While this way offers several advantages, it also has some disadvantages. In my opinion, the advantages of this generally outweigh the drawbacks for most people.
One significant advantage of living or working abroad is an improvement in the concerned person’s financial stability. Developed nations often offer higher salaries, better employee benefits, and better working conditions. This allows people to save more money, support their family, and achieve a more comfortable lifestyle. Adding on, access to higher quality of healthcare, education, and infrastructure can greatly enhance a country’s overall well-being. Working abroad also exposes individuals to international experience that can strengthen professional skills and improve their future career prospects.
On the other hand, there are also disadvantages to this view. One major issue is the emotional difficulty in them, such as homesickness and loneliness, mainly during the initial stages of relocation. Being far from their family and friends can cause stress and a complete sense of isolation. Adding on, some people may face cultural barriers, difficulties or discrimination integrating into the local community. The higher cost of living in many developed countries can also reduce the financial benefits, mainly for those with lower incomes.
To conclude, although living or working abroad can involve some emotional and social challenges, the advantages of higher living standards, better career chances, and personal growth usually outweigh the demerits. With proper preparation and realistic expectations, this decision can be a great and rewarding experience.
