Commemoration of critical national events is a part of a nation’s pride and a way to show respect for its tradition and history. Moreover, such events are instrumental in motivating the new generation to be patriots and bestow tributes to people whose contributions are unforgettable. Thus, the amount spent on such celebrations is justified, in my opinion.

To begin with, public ceremonies are essential in terms of spreading nationalism, giving the masses a reason to forget their differences, and improving public relations. Many often dispute the amount spent on such events, but this opinion is in no way practical, and the importance of observing national events is unparalleled. These celebrations, for example, teach us who we are, how much our ancestors had sacrificed to give us a better country, and how we are all connected as a nation. In my early childhood, I did not show an acute interest in our country’s history until I noticed how people observed Independence Day and how the whole nation remembered the sacrifices of the martyrs of our country. We must celebrate our significant national days to pass history to the next generations.

Furthermore, injecting money into those events is relevant. Being organized by a prestigious organization like the state, commemoration days will not only help citizens remember the fallen soldiers but also create a chance for the public to pay tribute to the people who have contributed to the nation. Furthermore, essential holidays will be a precious opportunity for family members to worship ancestors and entertain together. Consequently, people could respect previous generations, thereby warming up family bonds.

Nevertheless, a government should have a plan for disaster recovery and funds for important sectors. Each sector in a country already gets a share of the national budget. We must focus more on prudently using the fund for genuine development, not switching funds from one critical sector to another. But festivals are people’s fundamental rights, and a government should always support public festivals, including religious and national galas, to prove that the authority works for the public, not against them.

Thus, in conclusion, observing public celebrations is very important, but we should also take care that the event is not commercialized or used for petty social or national gains.
