Firstly, history has long documented people capitalising on the resources of animals in order to derive the greatest extent of profit possible. From being consumed to being experimented on in drug and cosmetics tests, animals have been mercilessly taken advantage of by people. As living organisms, animals also deserve to live and their existence should not be taken for granted or misused for the gratification of human wants. Poaching of animals in the wild has also disrupted the natural balance of the ecosystem and caused the extinction of certain species over time through their exploitation. Thus, people taking advantage of animals for their own needs must be ceased.

However, contrastingly, others argue that animals were created to meet the demands of humans and ameliorate their lives. Hence, it is necessary for them to use them to satisfy their own needs. Others also bring up the notion of the survival of the fittest, pointing out that even within the animal kingdom, the stronger creatures overpower or exterminate the weaker to subsist.
