Sample Answer 1 - Describe a family picnic or tour you have had – IELTS Cue Card
Family picnics or vacations are a great way to spend time with friends and family. These occasions are something that everyone looks forward to and eagerly awaits. I have always been enthusiastic about family picnics and excursions because this is the time when I meet my distant relatives and cousins. I would like to talk about a family tour when I went to a resort with my extended family for my parent’s wedding anniversary and had one of the best experiences.
For my parent’s 30th wedding anniversary, we planned a whole weekend at this amazing resort called Mohor Kutir Resorts. This resort is in Santiniketan, a place both my parents adored and is a popular destination for weekend excursions. It took us three hours to reach the resort by car, and the entire road trip was fun and full of entertainment.
After arriving at the resort, my cousins and I went straight to the pool area since it was a hot summer day. Later, we spent the entire evening talking and having a wonderful time. The next day, we had a surprise planned for my parents, a specially organized Baul Sangeet performance by a popular band in Santiniketan. Both my parents were overjoyed at this gift, and they were in awe of the musicians who performed that day. The following night our whole family had a delicious dinner and an anniversary cake was cut by my parents that my cousins and I had chosen for my parents.
This family tour was one of the most beautiful experiences I have ever had, and I will remember it as a memorable experience. Such occasions are rare since most of my family lives in different parts of the country. However, we often plan on spending time together and going on family vacations and tours.
Sample Answer 2 - Describe a family picnic or tour you have had – IELTS Cue Card
Back in the days, exploring the lanes of my childhood, I can still vividly recall how we used to go to some or the other place during every summer vacation. Not to brag, but till now, we must have roamed around almost half of India. Although I have plenty of memories to pen down, I would like to share a special one here.
It was the time when my father suddenly announced that we were going to Manali the next day. After half an hour of squabbling between my father and mother because of the last minute announcement, all of us got engaged in packing up after dinner. That night, we slept late, less because of the packing, more because of the excitement. And, the next morning, around 8 AM, we commenced our road trip.
Upon reaching Manali, we checked in a hotel, which seemed comfortable and relaxing. Since we arrived late, we called it a day and went to sleep after having our dinner. We stayed in that town for almost 3 days and tried covering most of the tourist destinations. From Arjun Gufa to Beas River, Chandrakhani Pass, Hadimba Temple, Solang Valley, Jogini Waterfalls, Manu Temple, The Manali Gompa, and several other places were crossed on our list.
On this hill station, I wanted to do something adventurous. Thus, I coaxed my father to go paragliding in dobhi valley. It was one of a kind experience, and that memory is etched in my mind like everything happened just a few hours back. Overall, it was one of the most memorable trips that I ever went to. I hope to experience more such moments with my family.
